Welcome!
The science and practice of wound care is
developing rapidly toward specialty status. To meet the needs of
physicians in this increasingly demanding medical discipline, a
physician-specific organization is required. The Academy of Physicians
in Wound Care was created to serve MDs, DOs, and DPMS in all three
aspects of wound care practice that are required for success in today's
ever challenging environment:
-
Education that covers in-depth clinical
programming for diagnosis, medical and surgical management, as well
as operations and business efficiency
-
Advocacy to CMS, other regulatory agencies,
Insurance Companies, and the public at large
-
Legislative activity and initiatives
affecting healthcare delivery
Mission
The mission of the Academy of Physicians in Wound
Healing (APWH) is to enhance the treatment and decrease the pain,
suffering and dysfunction of patients with complex wounds. These
patients are treated by physicians involved in the care of all wounds,
including: acute, chronic, post surgical, post radiation, reconstructive
and other problematic wounds. Our purpose is to improve the quality of
life for these patients domestically and worldwide through physician and
patient education and advocacy as well as engaging in legislative
initiatives involved with the delivery of healthcare.
Grandfathering in place during open
enrollment
Members that join currently are doing so during
Open Enrollment of the Academy. During this peroid Grandfathering is in
place so that physicians who were granted the designation of Fellow or
Associate in another recognized medical association will have that same
designation as members of the APWH. For additional information, click
the membership tab on the top of the page menu.
